Description:Recommended by famous astronomer Terrence Dickenson. Here is a quote form Nightwatch An Equinox Guide to Viewing the Universe: "The best binoculars I have seen for under $400 are the Adlerblick series by Carton Optics of Japan. In both the 7x50 and the 10x50 sizes, they are exceptionally lightweight and produce very sharp images." Rubber coat, strap & case included

Very good 10x50 binoculars. Not as good optically as their 7x50 brothers. The edge of field definition for astronomy use is better than many including the Bausch & Lomb Legacy and the Swift Audobon Kestrel, however the field that those two have is larger. I believe any 10x pair of binoculars should be tripod or monopod mounted including these. While a good 1/4 lb. or more lighter than the two above referenced binoculars, they would benefit from a solid mount, I do not recommend any 10x binocular for extended sessions without a tripod or monopod.

You can see the whole 5.3 degree field at one time. This seems to be a hallmark of Adlerblick binoculars - while the fields are conservative, you can see the full field at one time. "This is truth in advertizing!" On the stars I find that I can go about 65% of the way from field center in viewing stars off-axis with a reasonable image. This can be stretched to 75% in viewing stars on-axis only. In contrast the 7x50 Adlerblicks are good to 85% of the field off-axis and to 95% of the field on-axis.

Other than slightly shorter eyepieces, these look identical to their 7x50 brothers. (See my comments on the 8x42 Adlerblicks for some important information about the binocular case.)

Adlerblicks aren't very common here in the USA, as they're mostly marketed in Canada and Europe, as I understand the situation. They're very similar to Celestron Ultima and Orion Vista, probably coming from the same Japanese manufacturer. All three are excellent instruments for astronomy. The Adlerblicks have a grainier texture to the vinyl covering than the Ultimas or Vistas, but otherwise, they're identical both optically and mechanically. Eye relief is adequate for eyeglass wearers like me. These are first-rate field glasses that will please all but the most finicky observer. They exhibit almost no chromatic aberration, even on Jupiter and Mars. They bring stars to a pinpoint focus and are sharp across 80 - 85% of the field of view. Outstanding contrast.

Two items DO leave quite a bit to be desired, though. The neckstrap provided is completely inadeqaute. It's nothing more than a thin strip of flexible plastic, unadjustable for length. And it's far too short to be worn comfortably around your neck. Also, the case is reminiscent of WWII bino cases, where the instrument fits in UPSIDE DOWN (eyepiece first), making placement and retreival both clumsier than necessary. It's servicable, but inconvenient.

Overall, this is an excellent binocular for daytime use as well as astronomy. Highly recommended.

I bought these binoculars based on Terence Dickinson's review for astronomy and general use. The optics are good but show a little bit of softness near the edge of the field. They are very light and well made. The focusing on mine seem to get temporarily stuck when near the adjustment limit. The case is very badly designed, you have to insert the binoculars backwards, eyepiece first. If the binoculars are not at the correct angle, they won't fit and cause the lens caps to fall, and you have to pull them out of the case and retry, very annoying. Overall, these are good binoculars but I will probably go for Pentax or Nikon for my next pair.

Great when price is taken into account. Sharp almost to edge. Solid (I've had mine for over ten years)and remarkably light weight. I take them on evening walks.
