Note that this anime is...uh..sort of being screen on American Television. It does so under the name `CardCaptors' and fans of the series have been impressed that it has survived some rather drastic cutting and re-ordering with some of its charm still intact. Although the attempt to make it more action and male-centric (by emphasising Li) was regarded as both largely pathetic and futile.

This is a Clamp (a famous all female anime/manga studio) creation that was a bit more lighthearted than some of the other series they made, but I can't resist saying that this is because their writing seems well suited to representing 12 year olds. We follow the trials of a young school-girl, who accidentally releases magical cards into the world, and is then charged by the beast of the seal, Cerberus (who has been reduced to a winged teddybear with attitude), with recovering them. The device of the cards means there are lots of opportunities for varied `monsters' (manifestations of the cards power), which become her abilities once captured. The spells also have personality, which makes the encounters even more varied, and not all are hostile. In addition, especially as the show progresses, there are character and story episodes without the introduction of more cards.

The characters are solid, the humor is good-natured and the animation is very clean and cute. Her companion, who films the action and designs a new costume each episode, is wonderful, as are many of the other supporting characters. There is also a streak of parody (of the magical girl genre) which is fun and is not overplayed as well as a strong shoujo influence and a good sense of character. A suprisingly agreeable watch. This anime is doubly enjoyable when watched in a group, the various elements being so well balanced and approachable. Some usenet arguments have erupted over sakura being too perfect and the show too `sweet', which some might find a valid concern, though it didn't bother me (and what else did they expect?). Of course if you don't like `clamp cute' or magical girl you'll probably need to knock this down a couple of notches. Other than that you can really get hook on to this anime and should think about adding this to your collection.

Cardcaptor Sakura's fighting methods are sooooo boring. She uses the same cards over and over again and some cards she never uses at all and/or are never shown being captured! Plus, she always needs to have advice from the others (you know, Syaoran, Kero, even Madison/Meilin) Also, she is just too young! Her conversations aren't all that wise, and there are a lot of messed up relationships in there (syaoran/sakura: they're related in some strange way; meilin/syaoran: they ARE related; yukito/touya: just a leeetle bit strange; touya/kaho: i like this one, but she's SORT of older than him...same goes for kaho/eriol). Card Captor Sakura
Generally CCS is a wonderful anime with cute characters! It makes me want to watch again & again! Unlike some magic girl shows, CCS has a large plot on family issues, specific character's emotions and it's not stereotypical in many ways! It's just so great! Highly recommended!

I'm giving it a ten because I truly believe it's one of the better animes. It has cute characters (but not "sickeningly" so) with an excellent plot and plot twists! I can't rate the sound track because I haven't heard the sound track yet, but everything else is great! When Li Syaoran blushes, it always makes me laugh. ^_^ And I hope you think so, too! Even if this isn't everyone's *favorite* anime, it is still a must-see.

^_^ This is one of those kawaii must see
ones! It has a pretty great plot in my opinion
& if you like cute humor this is an anime to
see. I think the soundtrack is pretty good. (then
again this is in my opinion so..^^;) I love the
main couple too!^_^ It's really addictive and a
must see. My overall view is 10.^_^
