I have had my 8" for 25 years. Actually it is slightly larger @2100mm . Collimate it correctly and the optics are excellent.
Have mine connected to a drive corrector. Buy all the accessories you can find for it, hard to find.

Biggest complaint I had with my 8000 was light glare from off axis lights, caused background blacks to turn grey. Solution I took a large sheet of heavy dull black construction/craft paper and built a tube extending out beyond the input lens. The lip between the aluminum lens and the body nicely acts as a stop preventing the paper tube from shifting, A big elastic and a circumference of masking tape on the joint and WOW the images have black background now and I see way beyond my tablets starry map. Cheap solution fantastic results. Equatorial still a pain but thinking of putting BYO stepper motor drive for the rotational control knob, and another for the fine azimuth adjust then operating from my tablet or pc for aiming. Using rough guidance on the general setup then fine tune and track with the stepper motors. Yes I may replace this old baby soon but its served me well for over 25 years. The extension tube came much later and better investment then the Orion CCD bought years ago.

I have owned my Bausch & Lomb 8000 for almost 25 years and it is still a superior telescope. The optics remain top quality while the fork mount still provides ease of use. It is worth the money I paid back in 1986 as I also puchased the wedge and tripod.

This is an outstanding scope if you can find one. I was able to buy one at an estate sale for $900. The secret to using it is that you have to let it sit for about an hour and adjust to the outside temperature. If you do this you will be amazed at the quality of the optics.

I Was Fortunate to Buy Criterion 8000 , a Few Years Back , and still Used it today .
I attach a 2 " Diagnol and 2 " Eyepieces .

Once it Collimated Correctly . You Can,t Beat it .
The only thing I wish it had , is a Star Guided Tripod .

Remember this was the 1st Fork mount Unit, that is use still today .
and it is still perfered over the Side Mount , that have Came out the last Couple of Years .
If You Find One , For under 800.00 Buy It !

This very nice old SCT has been badly rated over the years and most of the bad complaints are because of user error and not understanding how to use the scope. The fiber type of tube takes a long time to acclimate to the outside temperatures, much longer then an aluminum tube SCT. Thus most people think the optics are bad when they were excellent and air currents in the tube are the problem there. Just allow an hour to cool down and you will find the optics quite good. The other problem is collimination of the secondary mirror it is critical and must be exact. You see when these scopes first arrived amatuers didnt know SCT's need exact alignment of the mirrors so they blamed quality control. I dont how many of these olld scopes were tossed away as garbage because of ignorance. The mount and tripod are heavy and operate silky smooth. Meade and Celestron copied there golden pyramid design mount and are still using it. If you can get one of these scopes you will be fortunate and probably get a bargain because of all the underseved bad feedback.
