| Description: | This is my second B&L 6000 the first one was good but not this good.They come with a nice foam fitted heavy plastic carrying case.
When I first looked through this scope I couldn't believe my eyes, the Double Star Diffraction Patterns were textbook perfect. Jupiter shows so much detail it would be impossible to draw, Moon Shadows are perfect inky Black Circles and at 350x Jupiter's moons are themselves sharply defined Globes at under 1.5 arc seconds in size. I have been viewing through Telescopes since 1970. I have owned or serviced over 70 Telescopes of all types, Celestron, Meade, Takahashi, JSO, Astro Physics, Unitrron, Cave, I own a Celestron C8 with custom optics tested at 1/11th wave 98 Strehl, made for a Former VP. The contrast of this 6000 is much better than expected. Better than the 2 Celestron C6 XLT Schmidts I have owned. I also own a Dynamax DX6 which is the Criterion Grey/Blue version of this scope, it is also good, but not perfect like this. Tight Double Stars are resolved to Daws Limit in Resolution The B&L 4000/8000 SCT's did not have the best reputation, neither did the Dynamax DX8". I have yet to see a 6" version of this scope that is actually bad. They are fairly rare having been made 1 for every 100 8" and sell quickly when offered. ut with the poor reputation of the Criterion SCT's you just may find a gem at a bargain price! |
