Apogee Shorty 1.25" 2x Barlow
A good bargain for a Barlow. Bought this with their 32mm Super Quality Plossl and they make a nice match. Makes a even better match with my 22mm Panoptic though. Mostly used on Moon. Only good on Deep Sky Objects in steady seeing. I do recommend this when economics is an issue. (If not: get a Televue!)

I'd have to disagree with the previous post. Apparently you do get what you pay for. I've owned a klee, an ultima, an apogee barlow, some home-made barlows, 2" pro-optic barlow, and the 2.5 powermate. The shorter barlows tend to vignette on certain eyepeices (although admittedly I enjoy the ultima despite this feature). With the shorty, I'd say that at least on quality telescopes on medium to high power viewing, there is an introduction with color which seems to interfere with detail on planets. Unless I could not afford anything else, I personally wouldn't buy this barlow again (picky). Not saying it's a bad barlow. It's just that I do care about getting the maximum detail on planets as possible. But who knows, maybe there is variation in the quality of these barlows (indicates quality control problem if it does).

I was worried about this when I ordered it, i.e., you get what you pay for. But when it arrived and I saw the almost invisible glass I suspected that this would be a good buy, and I was correct. The Barlow comes with a nice plastic cover and plug (the lens is not set in deep, so the cover is something to keep on the Barlow when not in use). Actually using the Barlow on an Orion SkyQuest XT10, I got great results with the Apogee "Super Quality" 32mm Plossl and with the Orion Sirius 25mm Plossl. The Trapezium was very clearly seen with those combinations. With the 9mm Sirius Plossl, the Moon was OK, but with the bad seeing conditions and imperfect collimation of the scope, I could only get good views of Saturn and Jupiter in those clear instants of seeing. But Jupiter and Saturn were great with the 32mm and 25mm. The 9mm has a lateral color problem, so I cannot blame the Barlow for any problems with it.
The Barlow did not introduce ANY color problems with the other eyepieces. It is a great bargain at the price.
