Antares Speers-Waler 30mm
This is another excellent 2" eyepiece with a 60-70 degree apparent FOV. The only drawback is minimal eye relief which means you have to get very close to the eye lens in order to realize all of that FOV.

Antares Speers-Waler 30mm
This has become my favorite eyepiece for "space walking" with my Intes-Micro 7" F10 Maksutov. I looked for but did not see any pin cushion distortion that others have reported. This is the best eyepiece I have ever used for viewing the Pleiades, the moon, M42, and other extended objects (with appropriate filters of course). Eye relief is perfect for me with none of the blackout problems frequently experienced with other wide 2" designs. I can move my eye all over the place and still see a perfect image. Highly recommended!!!

Antares Speers-Waler 30mm
A very nice wide-field 2" EP. Some moderate edge pin-cushioning, however, only noticeable on terrestrial views. Edges are not sharp, though, overall sharpness and contrast is good. Great value!

I WONDER IF THIS IS THE SAME EP SOMEONE GAVE A "5" TO? MINE IS EXCELLENT IN MY F5 12.5 DOB, F4.5 18 DOB, & MY 102TAK REFRACTOR, & SEVERAL OTHER FRIENDS SCOPES. VERY SHARP TO NEARLY THE EDGE & LIGHT TRANSMISSION IS AMAZING THRU THIS MUCH GLASS - CLOSE TO A 27 PAN AT 40% OF THE PRICE - HOW COULD IT NOT BE A "10"?

Antares Speers-Waler 30mm
This is currently the only 2" Speers-Waler (Wide Angle, Long Eye Relief)
Well, they got the wide-angle part right - the FOV seems even larger than
advertised, well over 70 degrees. However, the eye relief is very tight.
If is almost impossible to see the entire FOV all at once without touching
your eyeball to the glass. Sort of reminds of a 20mm Nagler in that regard,
only worse.
Edge of field correction in fast scopes is only what I'd call typical of other wide-angle oculars in this price range. It is not in the same league as a Panoptic - not even close. If you can stand the very tight eye relief, you might find this eyepiece acceptable for low-power deep sky work, or for just finding things before going to higher power. It might work better on slower scopes - mine is an F5.5.

Antares Speers-Waler 30mm
Have been using the S/W 30 mm for three months now on my 8" EQ
Although eye relief is limited, the views are well worth the sacrifice
Hard to beat at the price
Solid 9 rating
