Antares Speers-Waler 12mm
I own the new Speers 5-8 zoom, 10mm WA, 14mm WA along with variouse other eyepieces. I tried the others and when I saw the 12mm 80.1* on a-mart for $85 I snatched it up just to see what it was like. I must admit it's taken me a while to get around to comparing it but last night I took it for a spin in my new Megrez II f7 APO. I only looked at the moon but it appears to have better eye placement and didn't black out as easy as the 10mm, the 12mm had longer eyerelief and better color and edge correction then the 14mm. Although it's a huge eyepiece, same size as the zoom, I'm almost thinking that keeping this and selling the other 2 might make more sense. I've found the 10mm & 14mm compare well to the older Nagler and Pentax lines but the Zoom and 12mm appear to be a little sharper and to have better eyeplacement/relief. The downside is that they are big and need lots of in-focus, though not too much for my MII APO nor my 80mm f5 Skywatcher.

Antares Speers-Waler 12mm
It's a very different funky design but it doesn't matter. Granted I haven't compared this to a 13mm Nagler but I compared it to the UO 16mm Konig II, 13mm Seibert Standard WA, 16mm Super Plossl, 16mm TAL Kellner, 10mm Super Plossl... I'm keeping the Speers Waler and the UO 16mm Konig and selling everything else. I continue to hear that the Speers Waler eyepieces will compare very favorable to Pentax and Naglers at 40-70% of the cost. An excellent bargain compared to the over priced and hyped telescope eyepieces.

Antares Speers-Waler 12mm
Excellent alternative to other wide-field designs. Flat field, sharp to the edge in a 10" f/5.6, excellent transmitance for faint deep sky, planetary performance TBD. Works best with bellows-type eye cup installed inside-out and then turned down over itself to form cushy rubber ring around eye lens. This eliminates eye-position related defects such as kidney beans. Internal dust problems avoided by keeping tightly closed and set screw tighten.
