Hysterical! Best anime around. The characters are always getting into some type of trouble. Has the best filler episodes i've ever seen.

i loved it! i loved the storyline!i loved the way they drew the chracters (especially Sakon!) the part i hated was when Sakon had to die.:'0( I thought Sakon was the main character,because he was the best.I think Sakon SHOULD had been the main character.This is the kind of stuff anime is made of!i give this movie 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!

Abashiri Family
Not even my favorite theme, "girl raised as a boy," could redeem "The Abashiri Family." I'm not averse to deliberately offensive anime ("The Ping Pong Club" is one of my favorites), but AF seemed soulless--I felt like the animators weren't very interested in the show, and were just hoping if they threw in some more violence and maybe some sex too, the viewers wouldn't notice. If they had been more creative (the show could have used more wacky personalized attack moves, a la "Combustible Campus Guardress," or maybe a more pointed satire of Japanese schools), it might have worked on a certain level, but I was so bored by the goings-on, I ended up noticing the plot holes. (How come the family is so much weaker in the second part than in the first part?)
I give this a 3 because it's not *total* crap from beginning to end--it does have a few entertaining moments, but afterwards, I felt like asking for my $1 rental fee back.
