How this title failed to get a violence tag is beyond me.
I am prepared to suspend disbelief more than the average person but from the very beginning 3x3 Eyes is a bit far fetched. From the moment the mysterious Pai enters his life, Yakumo shakes off the shock of being presented with his late father's physical remains while he is at his workplace, and decides to leave his job as a transvestite waitress to go treasure hunting.
His friends just Get Over the fact that they have been facing off against demon beasts and their best friend is off on some magical quest.
As far as plausibility goes this hasn't got it. Some of the art is impressive, but for the most part the plot lets it down. I would reccommend staying as far away from the english language dub as humanly possible.
Perhaps this is worth watching just for reference purposes, but if you really want to get the full experience I would suggest reading the manga.

A TERRIBLY done dub. Also, the story isn't impressive at all and instead focuses on idiotic demons and battles where Yakumo loses a limb or two and then is saved by Pai. It seems that this show takes some pleasure in the humor of yakumo getting the crap n guts beat outta him rather than actually focusing on a good story. The animation is also simplistic as hell, and I didn't find any of the characters really likeable either. An average series that seems to have too much fun with punishing Yakumo.

You know, with all the 10 ratings before, I feel like I must be watching some different anime....The 3 x 3 Eyes I saw was about a guy named Yakumo who worked as a transvestite at a restaurant when Pai comes in and makes a scene. Then her bird kills him and she brings him back to life. I haven't seen the second OVA series yet, but I don't really see how this one is that great. It was okay watching it for the first time, but after that, I really had no desire to watch it again. Too long and drawn out. It did have some good animated sequences, but for the most part, it was just standard fare. If I'm gonna buy an anime about the occult, I'd much rather invest in an anime that has multiple replay value-like 'X'! But 3 x 3 Eyes the first OVA series is good for a rent.

The Good: Good storyline and filled with action scenes.

The Bad: The ending leaves you wanting more.....much more.

The Ugly: Plenty of ugly demons here, Pai not nearly as cute when she's a
Sanjiyan.

Nitpicking: Where the hell are Yakumo’s eyes?!?

An excellent manga I have actually just recently watched the series again,sigh

Pai is just basically the cutest 300 year old demon around ^_-
she is mega kawaiii
gomen I can get carried away sometimes.
Anyway for anyone who is about to give 3x3 eyes a try it is one of the best mangas I have ever seen and even after being a fan for three to four years now and buying all 29 graphic novels and playing several of the computer games I can definately say that I am constantly learning new things about the manga.
This is a superb manga oh yeah I already said that !Gomen! ^_^
The animation is superb and the characters are so loveable.
This manga get's a ten because basically it stars a cute little girl called Pai and I am a paticualar fan of the main bad guy "Shiva/Kaiyan wan.
And apart from that the entire thing is mega cool.

The animation was excellent in the first series. The story didn't deviate too much from the manga, which is something I like. Akinori Endo did an excellent job on the screenplay. Not alot was lost in the transition from written to visual presentation. The characters, especially Yakumo, were very life like in the expression of their emotions (due in part to the excellent character design). The story drew my emotions out-- when Yakumo was happy, I was happy, when he lost Pai, I too felt as if I had lost something important. A very good anime in all respects.

The story itself is very good and the characters develop well, yet the animtion though very well done lacks. Throughout the entire two hours you only see one or two characters moving. Background movment such as fog. One or two characters moving and background movement. I think there is only one scene where more than a couple things happen. The part with all of the different guns being drawn and fired. Put that all aside and you've got a great anime series. The second series rids itself of that and has multiple movement in the foreground and background to make up for the first series lack.

An amazing story with beautiful art and an enchanting musical score. The charactors are original, as is the story. A very well rounded and, in my opinion one of the best anime movies out there.

great plot
great character design especially pai what a cute adorable little girl(little! yea right just look at the attributes).
Exciting throughout and strangely magnetic I was stuck to the tv screen watching it.

A fun ride, but very odd and could've easily been done much better. The characters are strange but likable, the story is interesting. Lots of blood/gore as well as humor. I have to say though, the book is much better. If you have a choice between the 3x3 Eyes anime or manga, read the manga. I'm still wondering HOW some of the action sequences managed to be 3 times cooler in the BOOK than in the animated version.
