Antares 8x50mm Correct Image
I've purchased Antares products in the past with good luck so bought this finder expecting another winner. But this one was a disappointment. Fortunately I bought it from ScopeStuff who were very cooperative about my issues.

First, the crosshairs on the finder eyepiece were off-center. I sent the eyepiece back for a replacement which arrived within a couple of days. This second eyepiece had the same focus problem another reviewer noted. It would not come to focus unless I backed the eyepiece out of the finder a good quarter inch or more.

I finally decided it just wasn't worth it so sent it back for a refund. ScopeStuff was very patient throughout the process so even though the finder was a bust I can highly recommend ScopeStuff as a vendor who puts the customer first.

As for a recommendation of a great right angle finder, go to Stellarvue. That's what I have now and love it.

Good finder, but the eyepiece they package with it is pretty bad. Sharp image in about 50% of field. The outer field has all the curved stars you could want. Still the correct image is very useful.

Eyepiece would not focus when installed all the way in. It must be pulled out a few mm to reach focus. Even then you have to screw the eyepiece focus adjustment so far in that the finder then has a HUGE amount of parralax. Dovetail base for C8 was a piece of cr#$. 1/2 degree of slop in the dovetail base. Plastic set screws in holder are too hard to turn by hand. Finder has a lot of coma in the outer part of the field.

My experience was very similar to the individual above BUT I persisted and finally spoke to someone at Sky who went out of his way to make things right. These finders are handmade in Canada and so there can be some cosmetic differences between finders. Optically I have found this finderscope to be excellent and a good value. I would highly recommend anything from Sky Instruments as they proved to be a very customer-centric company.

Although I've had little time to evaluate this finderscope optically (but seems OK)....the build quality was marginal with rough paint work on the OTA...a followup call to Sky Instruments went unanswered. I purchased this because I thought Sky Instuments produced a superior quality product but it appears most Asian findersopes are better built. Big disappointment.

Black tube finder used on my Orion XT8 dob. Performance was mediocre in my opinion. Right angle feature was nice and quick-release bracket (sold separately) was terrific. But views were dim and mushy. Optics quality was poor. I could never seem to get it focused. Images in my cheap 10x42 binoculars were better.
