Description:I know its a barlow, this lens is said to be form the same Mfg. as the Celestron Ultima 2X barlow who I think may be Vixen in Japan. First thing is I have compared this to a Ultima 2X and not only does it have les light loss but is sharper than the Ultima 2X and you end up with more power, this was done using a TV 32 mm plossl on DSO's. It has les glare then the ultima 2X and seems to have less vignetting with most EP's. Its a little taller than the @x ultima, about 3" and seems to have good coatings. I have not tried the TV power mate but am told that it will be even better but it should for another $100 but for $65 this is one of the best I have seen for under $100. If you live in the states you can pick it up at Hands on Optics who staock them regularly. Recomended

Excellent 3x barlow. It is very sharp, with good coatings. I agree with the previous comments that light transmission is above average. This barlow works well with every eyepiece in my collection. It is a steal for the price, as the quality of this barlow exceeds every other one I have used, including a Televue barlow.

Antares Ultima barlow 3X
This is a very nice barlow that I orginally give a higher rating. The optics are good and it has noticably better light throughput and color fidelity than the Ultima 2x barlow. It also is well constructed and does not have the overly tight fit that many Ultima barlows have.

However, my impression has changed with extended use. It has less contrast with a noticibly brighter background sky than both the Ultima and Televue barlows. Images are also less sharp with Saturn's Cassini Division fuzzy in this barlow compared to a sharp black line in both the Ultima or Televue at simkilar magnifications.

Don't get me wrong - its good, but not great, and I have replaced it with a Televue for a few bucks more.

A fantastic barlow!! Coupled with my Antares 24mm Wide angle eyepiece gives Teleview Naglers stiff competition at Half the price or less! Very pleased with this unit, a real keeper! To the twit who wrote to keep away from this barlow, maybe you should keep away from astronomy!

Just tried this one out last night and I have to agree with the majority of the reviewers. Very nice clean crisp views at a good price. My only negetive comment is that I did notice a few "dust" particles on the interior of the lenses. This did not affect the veiws even when observing the moon.

I must concur 100% with the previous post regarding the quality of this 3X barlow. It is superior to the 2X Celestron Ultima barlow (which did not impress me) in every measurable way, and is truly a great barlow.

Less Light loss than a celestron Ultima barlow and its a 3X, 3 lens system, no glare or ghosting at all, the only barlow that may be a slight improvement will be the TV. Recomended

Antares Ultima barlow 3X
I bought this after seeing positive feedback on it. I was going to go for the TV, but figured I'd take a chance. I have had the 3xTV B4. I must say I am pleasantly surprised by this barlow. Crisp views with my U.O.. orthos. I like this alot, as much as I ever liked the TV 3x. Makes me wonder what stacking it with the 2x Antares could do.

I am very happy withthis barlow. I had wanted A TV 3x which I had B4 and took a chance on this. I am impressed, I like it. I use UO Orthos with it. For the money a solid value.
