Double Cluster
The most beautiful of all deep-sky objects in the city because it shows so many stars.I found several "imposter" clusters and thought they were the double cluster and then all of a sudden WHAM!Now I KNOW WITHOUT 100% A DOUBT I HAVE SEEN IT.What else contains a bizillion stars and all bizillion can be seen in a 60mm refractor!?!?

Double Cluster
This has to be the best cluster(s) visible from U.K. latitudes, better than Pleiades because it is richer and does not need such a wide field of view. Great object to get friends hooked. Some people are surprised/annoyed that it's not a Messier object, but the well known English astronomer Patrick Moore has drawn up a list called the Caldwell Catalogue for bright non-Messier objects such as this in both hemispheres. The Double Cluster is designated C14 which makes things a lot easier, so let's hope this list comes into general use.

Double Cluster
The best open star cluster(s) in the sky, and the best non-messier object. The Northern Jewel Box, but a twin set. A chance alignment of two different star clusters not acually associated with one another (or so I understand). Wide field viewing perscribed!

A correction: The NGC designations are 869 and 884 (not 88).

I love the overall view of this cluster especially with the Home brew 8" Binoculars I was allowed to use at a star party one evening. The Wide angle and depth of view was truely breathtaking.

Absolutely beautiful! Looks wonderful when viewed through a wide-field, large-aperture 'scope.
