Wow - one cannot help but recognize the overwhelming negative feedback here. However, I've done business with Ray many times over the last 10 years, and I've never felt "ripped off" by him. He is a shrewd negotiator, and you'd better know your stuff if you're going to wheel and deal with him. But, as far as buying stuff off the shelves or even ordering product, I've never had a problem/issue with him. I find his prices to be very competitive, and his before sales service to be excellent. His after sales service (with me) has also been very good - any items that I've purchased that weren't satisfactory have been exchanged with no hassles. Overall, I think it's a great place to get a good deal. I would say that the old addage applies to _ANY_ store: Let the buyer beware. I've had situations at Efston where I wish I had been shrewder - but that's how you learn in life. I think both stores are good places to shop.

Bought most of my astronomy equipment from Khan's and spent several thousand $'s.My stuff was in good shape and was at a good price.After sale service is very poor and at one time we were verbally abused on the phone(must have been a bad day).We no longer deal with this shop but they had a good inventory and good prices.

Good Web site and prices are reasonable. However, proceed with CAUTION, price isn't everything and if you are looking for a commitment from a dealer for service forget KHAN SCOPE.
I purchased a Meade LX10 including the Magellan I and the few questions I had were met with "Check with Meade". You can do a lot better for instance if you go to Efstonscience or Perceptor. The price may be slightly higher but you will get very good service from both!
Ask yourself while checking the ratings on KHAN SCOPE why so many have negative comments. Each is a potential customer who will not purchase from this dealer again. Forgo the hassle and grief, look somewhere else !!

I purchased my first telescope from Khan Scopes. I personally purchased it from Ray Khan. I found Ray to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Ray took the time to explain the different types of telescopes as well as their pros and cons. Before I purchased the Meade LXD55 10” I went to various stores and went back periodically to Khan before making my decision. In each case Ray was very helpful and patient with me. His service did not stop their. Even after I have paid for the scope Ray was always there to answer my phone calls and took the time to answer in detail all of my questions.

Another issue that I found Khan Scopes handled with a great deal of professionalism was the fact the Ray related his concerns regarding the mount for the LXD55 10”. Ray was not sure if it was strong enough to handle the weight of the scope well enough to allow for good quality photos to be taken by my camera (mounted on the scope). Ray stated that he will personally check the mount and test it when it comes in. If it does not meet my needs he will return the scope and find a good replacement in its place. Now that’s service!! I will recommend anyone interested in purchasing a telescope to check out Khan Scopes he really has great prices and when dealing with me he has been fantastic.

Stay away! The guy's a crook.I traded in an lx 50 on an Ultima 2000 using my credit card.The scope arrived on time but it took three months for a credit on my card.Called many times and got all kinds of excuses. Wrong credit card number on his computer although it worked when I ordered something right after getting the U2K. Also got the "Ray is at a star party "routine. Only got my money because I contacted a friend of his to put pressure on. You've been warned.

I ordered an Explore Scientific eyepiece over the phone with Khan Scope center. They told me i'd have it in two weeks.
My credit card was charged the day I ordered it.
My credit card company called me 1 day later and told me that my credit card had been compromised in eastern Canada.
[I am from western Canada]
A month later there was still no sign of the eyepiece. I asked for a refund and was told no problem.
It took 3 months and 6 phone calls to get my credit card refunded from Khan.
I'll never order anything from there again.

I went there to trade in my high end apo for an ED doublet. Over the phone he was pleasant and I figured it should be an easy deal - mine was worth $825 and the one I wanted was $450, a straight swap, or close to it, was what I offered. Well, in person it was the exact opposite - he said he didn't know the price of the scope, which he sells on his web page. By the way, he kept telling me how professional he was which should have set off alarm bells, the good shops don't have to tell you, you'll know by the service. He offered me, and I quote "$20, I don't know how good it is", but of course he wouldn't bother checking it out himself. "Insulting" does not begin to describe my feelings at that point. It was less than 2 years old in mint condition. One more try I figured - I asked if the scope I wanted (Zenithstar 71) would fit the mount I had (Mini Porta-Mount) and he said no, it would need an adapter plate. I knew it would fit and that's when I walked out of the store. I put the scope up for sale, with no photos attached to the ad, and I sold it in less than 48 hours. When the buyer received it, he thanked me for the condition it was in. I bought the scope I wanted from the true professionals at Canadian Telescopes. Read the other reviews, we're not all wrong!

In my opinion THEY RIPPED ME OFF the very first time I went there. I gave them a chance to fix it and they had more excuses and did not, When I was leaving I told them I would never come back to this store ever, Alex from behind the counter yelled out "good don't come back" and then the other guy said the same thing. ******* WARNING if you do business with Kahn scope you are a bigger idiot then I was because you now know NOT TO GO THERE.****** also for YEARS I have been using my credit card at the same places over and over with NO PROBLEMS EVER.!!!! I use it one time at a new place (KAHN scope) and my credit card people call and tell me my card has been COMPROMISED and half to CANCEL IT and send me a new one. NOW I am NOT saying they did any thing wrong but I am saying I and I alone THINK IT IS FUNNY. and I don't mean funny ha ha.
