Wow, a company that offered to fix my sky 90 dewshield
for free, and all I had to do was pay for
shipping costs. They even repainted the tube...
Now, I'm proud of my sky 90... :)
No complaints whatsoever...

A most excellent place to buy astronomical stuff.

Prices are a little steep when compared to common mail-order retailers, and state tax comes on top but costs appr. the same than the S&H that the mail-order companies charge, so all in all it cancels out. That being said, I got a rebate on the LX-90 I bought there without even asking for one.

The level of service is absolutely excellent. The personnel is made of amateur astronomers, they really know what they are talking about, and you'll benefit from it: more than once I have been talked out of a buy that they didn't think was useful, even if they would have done some money on it; what they recommended as add-ons when I bought my LX-90 proved essential in the field. When I had a problem with my LX-90 (bad thread on back), they spent more than one hour trying to (and succeeding at) solving the problem (BTW, this is an official Meade repair center: nice), without charging anything. They stock an impressive array of scopes (Takahashi fans... ), eyepieces, binocs and accessories and for the ones they don't resell (in my case, Pentax eyepieces), they direct you to a competitor. That's premium service to me. I'll gladly pay a little more to benefit from it.

In all, this is a great place. If you're in the Houston area, look no further.

As mentioned by a previous poster ..their return policy is non-existent..which is a very unprofessional way to do business....which is the reason why they have gotten the last of my business. And others as well... They don't return emails. In other words..once you have bought it, you have bought it. Don't buy from them...buy from another dealer. You can get a better price and the same equipment from another dealer, any dealer.......

Their prices are definately on the high side. Charged me $35 and $40 for two items I learned later I could have ordered on the internet direct for $25 and $35. They do have a friendly and knowledgeable sales staff, unless your returning something, then their not as nice. Glad I found this out on a $40 dew cap and not a $4000 scope. When you pay premium prices like theirs you shouldn't have to justify any returns (the dew cap didn't fit their scope either, they wanted to cut it and "make it work"). I normally like to support local merchants and don't mind paying a little more for their advice and being able to see something before I buy it, but I think LL&S needs to make it's return policy a little more customer friendly and be a little more competitive on it's pricing.
