Todd Gross' Weather and Astronomy Site
A good site that fits in between "professional" reviews of S&T and Astronomy magazines and reviews on sites like our own which may contain comments from less experienced (though not necessarily less valuable!) reviewers.

If your spending up in the 1000s of dollars for scopes such
as the high end scts, APOs and very large premium
dobs Todd's reviews are ok. However, if your spending under
a 1k and need some good advice this site is not the place
to be.

Unfortanly Todd comes off as snobbish and consistently
overlooks scopes that the average person or newbie to
astronomy would buy or could afford. Scopes that are very
good in their price class. Just look back at the
scopes he has reviewed and that will tell you. With time
perhaps his reviews will mature and he will be able to talk
about other things than an apo or an sct. For more realistic
and unbiased review check out ed www.scoperviews.com
or www.cloudynights.com or this site www.excelsis.com.

Super site and I use it often. I got here via a link at his site. Does seem slightly biased towards all top end stuff. Performance is tops on the list but price is huge consideration for most of us.

Between this site & Ed Ting's, I was able to obtain enough useful information to spend my $1250.00 astronomy budget wisely. I especially appreciated browsing the product reviews & reading about buying experiences of other people because they defined a clear path for me to choose what I bought & who I bought it from.

Now if I can just locate some clear sky......

I have been referring to this site now for approximately a year. I have enjoyed the ratings pages for the various products and have made several purchases based upon the excellent reviews given by those who have owned and used them. This is a great site for both beginner and for long time amateur astronomers. I refer to it constantly and have e-mailed Todd a few times with questions and always received a prompt and informative response. Keep up the great work Todd.

His reviews are useful if you know what you are looking
at and have done your homework. However, some of his
opinions about certain review of accessories as well as
equipment can mislead you to think that 'his best' would
also be your best. Take his reviews with a grain of salt.
Most of of his reviews are very useful, especially when
they remain objective.
