| Description: | Recently out of production, this unit was a revelation for reviewers and audio cheapskates in the USA. I bought it and agree with most reviews that it was a tad bright. After about a year, the unit began to sound much more neutral with an overall more tame and almost laid-back presentation. Despite its apparent neutral character, the unit can really slam and pound when the source calls for it. Unfortunately, it does have a slightly grainy top end, but if you are a midrange/bass fan--this amp puts out. I find its neutral character best suited to classical, vocal, acoustic, and electronic-new age. Despite it ability to deliver power, it just doesn't seem to properly energize rock or popular music. Reviewers would certainly give this unit 10's and 9's, but after four years of listening, I give it a 7. It's not really happy with all kinds of music and the top end could be smoother. What do ya' expect for a kilobuck? |
