I use the Studio 20 V3s as my rears and they sound perfect. They are powered by a Rotel RB-991 and deliver well.

I own several pairs of speakers from the reference Studio line. They are all an outstanding value.

Skipping all the lengthy superlatives, I'll just say my experience with the reference studio speaker line leads me to believe that they render the most convincing musical experience per dollar of any I have ever heard.

Don't misunderstand, though. This isn't to say there aren't better performers out there, just that these are probably the highest ratio 'grin per dollar' product of their kind of which I am aware.

Very clear and open, well detailed. Bass texture good, but bass a little weak in the lowest octave and a half. Imaging is very good left to right, but lacks depth. Likes a bit of power and sounds better when cranked up. With equalization, the sound becomes very good. Recommend a gradual slope above 1k Hz at 1-2 dB/octave, resulting in a drop in the 16K Hz octave of 4-5 dB. Tolerates bass boost well. My room is relatively small, and so I cannot move the speakers far from the back wall. Front of speakers is 18" from back wall. at this location, I use +5 dB @ 64 Hz, and +3 dB @ 32 Hz with an Audio Control Octave EQ. The midbass peak of about 3 dB shown in Stereophile's review is not apparent in my room, although it was apparent in the much larger room at the shop where I first auditioned them. Have tried two different subwoofers with rather poor results. Found a smooth transition to the sub to be impossible to achieve. (I have a LOT of experience with subs, and this one is the most difficult I have encountered.) Fortunately the Paradigms tolerate some bass boost well.
