Description:The Q55 is a 21/2 way design in which each driver is precisely matched, the clear-cone Uni-Q® unit and the separately enclosed bass driver guaranteeing a unique listening experience. All of the new Q models are shielded and the Q55 makes an excellent choice as the front left/right combination in a home theatre system.

21/2 way designs are always more difficult to produce than the relatively simple 2 way. Not so for KEF who have pioneered computer design of crossovers in the famous Reference Series.

I bought these to perform as front speakers for home audio/video, and have been very pleased. I don't find the highs as bright as some others, but that might be due to my old ears (36). Bass is better if you can place the speakers far enough from the wall. Highly recommended in the under $600 range.

KEF Q55
Probably the best at the price given. Exelent imaging, very wide sound stage, not so deep, but very fast and controled bass, mids and highs to die for.

A+!

KEF Q55
The Uni Q drivers give precision imaging and beautiful highs and mid ranges.
Depending on your taste, music may sound a bit bright. Bass is good but not great. A sub-woofer is essential for Home Theater. Powered by a Yamaha 995 with Kef Q30’s in the rear and Kef 100C for my center. Got them for a steal. $450/pr, so I pick up an extra set for the living room.

I went out to by some nht superOnes and/or NHT 1.5 and ended up coming home
with a pair of KEF Q55, a pair of Q35 and the Q95C.

I found them Q55 and Q35 a lot warmer and richer then their NHT counterparts on the Yamaha 2095 (Which I also bought).

my .2 cents,

michel
