Very good sub when I first purchased it. The longer I lived with it the more I disliked it. Tried my friends Velodyne SPL, and sold the Sunfire next day.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
i have a couple of sub before and wanted something to kick ass on the surround i found it. small problem with the auto shut down and the occasional pops. otherwise it is absolutely very powerfull. save enough to get one and u will be happy for years to come.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I have lived with this marvel for a year and its still hard to beat. The hum goes away with proper installation/ grounding. Matching to your mains takes some effort and patience with the level, crossover and phase control. But when you get it right, it can be stunning. Another hint, place this beast on a square of marble tile or spike feet to keep it rock solid... rather than directly on your carpet. My biggest issue... don't get your direct view TV too close to the awsome magnetic field it emits.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I was allowed by my local Ovation dealer to try the Sunfire at home.
After intial trial and much adjusting and understanding of Bob Carver's intentions with this little "wonder", I finally succeeded in blending with my main front speakers (Carver AL-111+'s ).
The sound when played through good electronics and properly recorded material is indeed a real pleasure.
It is the room acoustics and placement of the little woofer that makes it work. If you don't have it just right in the corner as recommended it becomes more difficult to get a proper synergy with whatever main speakers you have.
The impact and clarity it allows for in movie sound is awesome. I highly recommend them. Happy shopping!

Sunfire True Sub Mk II

Flat frequency response, room thundering lows, very low distortion for a sub, 2700 watt amp. what else is there?

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I bought the Velodyne HGS 18 and was convinced it was the greatest sub in the world. Then the next week I saw the sunfire. Heard it. Bought it. Installed it. Disconnected my Velodyne and promptly returned it. Those of you who can't get rid of a hum shouldn't be messing around with such amounts of money in the first place.... maybe if you learned to install properly, you wouldn't have a hum. My sunfire kicks the Velodyne's butt. I did read elsewhere that people thought the Velodyne beat the Sunfire, so I brought my sub to my friend's house, where he has a velodyne. We compared. We heard. He went out and bought a sunfire and sold his velodyne. I heard no distortion, even when cranked way up. By far the best subwoofer on the market, barnone!!!

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
This sub is remarkable. I've had no hum problems. I have a very tight space and this worked out fine. It may not be appropriate for critical listening but for explosions such as the depth charge scenes in Das Boote it made my basement shake. Even my heavy slot machine was rattling. Mission accomplished.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I was able to take this little beauty home for a couple of days, thanks to my local Hi-Fi store. After listening for a few hours I called my salesman back to say two words, (Holy S..t!!) I had a Paradigm PS1000 and wanted to see what 800 dollars more would accomplish as far as base goes. Well, 800 dollars more makes your hair move, your dogs bark, your kids cry, and your neighbors angry. Sold my PS1000 and bought one the next day. Nuf Said.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
yes, hum can be a problem, I cut my ground off and simply reversed the plug and that was the end of the hum!
As far as performance goes, its great!
I use with Celestion SL-6 speakers and I have a sound to die for!
Be warned, your main speaker must have bass of its own, or it wont blend!
Remember guys its a SUB woofer, not a woofer!
I like it because its small, kicks ass, and affordable.
Sure there are better subs, but they are considerably larger!
I think its a great design

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
This sub rocks....provides low end bass without mucking up the rest of the sound. Listened to Velodynes and others in similar price range. Sunfire blows them away. Why spend more when you can't get better performance
