I bought these speakers and brought them home to my wife who complained, "they're bigger than I am!". Yeah, they are pretty good size, you really have to set up your furniture around THEM, but, I don't believe that I can let them go. I listen to everything from Zappa to Sinatra and on and on, and no matter what the music, what the volume, the speakers are calm. It's easy.
Everything is clean and accurate no matter the volume. It makes me listen to different music because I am so entertained by the speakers (If you have good ones, you've got to listen to Victor Wooten--Classical Thump). The only other speaker that I have heard that is this tidy in this price range is the B & W 805 Matrix. And that's a compliment to the B & W.

NHT 2.5i
I believe these are the best speakers under $2000. I auditioned probably 30 pairs of speakers before deciding on my 2.5i's. The bass is amazing and never strained or boomy at any listening level. The mids and highs are not invasive and create zero listener fatigue.I never turn them up to obnoxious levels but when I have tested the power handling they NEVER strain and stay very true to the recording even at 3/4 volume WOW!!!!! One suggestion; using a 200w or better amplifier makes them really open up. I use a Conrad Johnson MF-200 and love every second of listening time I have available. By the way, for you REAL audiophiles out there, these sound great with my Music Hall mmf-5(also amazing for the money). Being an audiophile on a budget, my choices are quite limited when it comes to equipment. Besides my turntable the 2.5i's are the only peice of equipment that I have ever purchased new. Yes, my wife scowled when I dropped over a grand on speakers but now she actually agrees that they are the best audio purchase I have ever made. THAT IS ONE HELL OF AN ENDORSEMENT

NHT 2.5i
The best high-end value I have come across. I prefer these to any of the $3000 and under speakers I have heard.

NHT 2.5i
Unbeatable in the under-$5000 lineup of loudspeakers. Very analytical but not nearly as bright as most "analytical" speakers i.e. Thiel 1.5 Significant deep, tight bass to offset the very accurate treble and midrange. Absolutely no need for a subwoofer (I have a Paradigm Servo 15)unless you already own one. Great design accomplishment for the money!

NHT 2.5i
There are NO speakers in the price range that can compare to the NHT 2.5i. As a matter of fact these babies sound better than a lot of speakers that are twice as expensive. The midrange and high freq. are crystal clear. Bass is deep and tight. The design is absolutely stunning. To bring the best sound out of these speakers, you need a powerful amp. I run them off the Rotel RB 991 (200W/channel) power amp and Onkyo 828 AV. It takes about 50 hours for these speakers to break in. You can actually tell that they sound better and better as you're breaking them in. Highly recommended. B&W, Boston Acoustics, Klisph, Jamo, Paradigm, AR, Mission, Bose 919, Tannoy (low end), Polks Audio... are all craps (I have listened to them all). Long live NHT...
