KLIPSCH RF-3II
If you like the Klipsch signature sound (horn loaded tweeters), you cannot beat this value. The speaks are typical towers with a nice basic black finish. They are very efficient, meaning you can drive them with a lower powered amp/receiver. With a high powered amp, they CRANK! They could be a little better shielded. Mine are up against my TV as close as the little plastic "feet" will allow, and although fine for HT listening, when I crank tunes the less-than-stellar shielding shows. Be careful with the grills. They look great when installed, but the small plastic pegs which hold them to the speaker can break easily. These, I have found, excel for HT use, especially the vocals range. They also have a credible bass output for music without a subwoofer. For HT, a sub is needed (I use an SVS). Well matched with the RC3II center. Excellent value, and will blow away many speakers costing over 2-large. I know, I auditioned them against the best. Are they the best? No, but very close, and even better than most if you like the horn loaded sound. BTW, this is my 5th set of Klipsch's since they began using the Tractrix horn. It is great design, with a well integrated sound and not nearly as "horn-loaded" sounding as any of the exponential horn designs. Directionality is much more flexible, and the "cutting edge" horn sound is gone entirely. Very clear, YES; obnoxious horn sound, definitely NO.
