Polk Audio RM6500
Bought the speakers about 5 years ago and they sounded pretty good with my yamaha surround sound reciever. The movie sound were exceptional but for music I was not all that impressed. I since have bought a pair of klipsch RF-5 for music and kept the RM6500 for movies it has worked out well thus far.

Polk Audio RM6500
In essence you get what you pay for and a bit more. The RM6500 series from Polk Audio actually meet their promises of a big sound in a small set of speakers. The key for obtaining the best sound possible from the front satellites and the subwoofer is to connect the satellites directly to the receiver and have a dedicated cable for the subwoofer(disregard the suggested connection by the manufacturer). An audio technician from Circuit City taught me the trick and advised me to use a Monster Cable designed for that particular purpose (the 200i). Believe me, the bass in you subwoofer will be amazingly punchy, virtually zero distortion at high volumes and great sound imaging (kicks Bose buttocks BIG TIME). Additionally, make sure the speakers have a good separation from each other (front and rear satellites) for the best sound spectrum possible. Remember, that the reason for Polk to make his RM series so small is flexibility (mobility according to the space designated for spakers location). Try my suggestions and you will be happy you bought them (specially know that are under price with may retailer for being a discontinued
model)

Polk Audio RM6500
I bought these speakers four months ago after shopping and comparing for about two months...I wanted to be sure that since I was forking over at least $1,000 and I could have gone a little higher, I wanted to get what I thought were the best speakers for the money. And, I DID! I have these connected to a Pioneer VSX-26TX receiver and after listening for four months, the only other thing I could have hoped for was a remote control for the sub, but hey...it's only 10 ft away. I often wonder if my hearing would be any better today if I had these speakers 20 years ago instead of the ones I had and had to crank them up to try and compensate for the poor quality sound compared to what I have today. For those of you like me who buy something and then 6 months later wonder if they made the right decision or wished they had waited longer til they had more money to get something better, put your fears aside. I would be surprised if anyone would be disappointed in what they hear, especially for the money.

Nice smooth sound. Clean, deep bass. I listened to 4 other sub-sat systems
and the Polk was by far the best.
