This player is very quiet as a transport and electronically... I've run everything from the Matrix to Private Ryan without a hitch. While I am biased towrd the audio side, I am very happy with this player from a video standpoint as well. It has discreet construction and appears to have a solid build quality.

Haven't had any play problems at all! Played The Mummy, Arlington Road, fine. Good value at $265 from Circuit City. Good picture and audio. Theatre modes nice feature.

I have the JVC and unable to transmit dolby digital or dts to my reciever. I have lost the jvc manual and am wondering if I need to change any settings on the unit. I have the optical connection to my receiver but the receiver won't be digital. Any Ideas??

I was somewhat disappointed in this player. I had not less than a week, when it stopped working. Sent it back to JVC, after spending hours on hold for customer service. The entire laser mechanism had to be replaced. Maybe just my unit. Otherwise, it appears to be nothing very exceptional when compared to other players in the same price category

I have owned the 511 for 10 ten days now and have been
unable to play a great deal of dvd's including: True Lies, The Mummy
and many others. Has anyone had this same problem? I'm
planning on returning the unit to the store where I purchased it.
