Toshiba SD-9000
This player has 3 seperate setable picture parameters. Stupendous video and audio quality. The best thing is it's the only glitch free player I know of. It plays previous "problem" discs effortlessly.

Just got one...
Tested several including Sony 7700. This is by far the best DVD player I could find for the money.
You will not make a mistake if you buy this unit.
Absolutely a 10...great picture, fantastic blacks, and terrific sound.

This Player has it all, suberb build quality, stunning picture and tremendous sound. Sprinkle in some great convenience features and a backlit remote and you have a winner.

Toshiba SD-9000
I have posted a more thorough description in the Toshiba 3109 comments, but felt the need to mention it here as well. I have not tested the 9000, I own the 3109 and have examined both units internally. They are nearly exact clones. The 9000 is heavier, due to a big slab of resin in the base, but the power supply looks the same, the output section is the same but with slightly better grade electrolytic capacitors on it (and inverted to hide the fact that it is the same) while the digital section is slightly different, it loses a shield that covers the circuit board in the 3109, but gains a small daughter board sitting on top that holds a big chip of some sort. Does it seem to warrant $500 more ? Not by a long shot, since the 3109 is a top video performer. You ought to hear slightly better audio due to the slightly better capacitors, but not if you use the optical cable to feed signals to a receiver.

Test it before you buy it - compare it with the 3109 and ask if it is worth $500 more for (essentially) a slab of resin and $5 worth of capacitors.

Toshiba SD-9000
not officially out until end of March but some are available now. haven't seen one yet but it has impressive specs. If anyone has seen it, how does it compare to Pioneer DV-05 or Denon DVD-3000???
