Pioneer DVL-91
Since buying this player, my movies seem so much better viewing and listening to. The player barely pauses during layer changes on DVD's. In addition, the Laserdisk side change is also extremely fast. The remote control is easy to use. Just about any output you need is provided by this player.

Pioneer DVL-91
Excellent performance in video and audio quality. Laserdisc performance is excellent and the adjustable Y/C independent digital noise reduction is a nice feature. Digital outs are clean as you'd expect, analog audio performance is noticeably improved by the "legato link" D/A conversion, which reduces low-level error below the least-signifcant-bit in the digital signal. Component and S-Video output are not available simultaneously, although composite and S-video are.

UI is the one place where this player is a bit goofy. To change some settings requires inserting a disc, stopping the disc, and then changing the desired setting. For example, you can't switch between composite and S-video output without stopping the disc completely. Forward/reverse scan could be a bit smoother, but this is certainly not the only player with this problem.

Pioneer DVL-91
This unit replaced my DVL-700 which was a mediocre unit at best. The DVL-91 is everything that the 1st generation players by Pioneer should have been. Probably the only combo player of equal or better specs and quality is the Theta Voyager which only retails for a mere $5000.00 more than the DVL-91. This unit also makes a fine CD player with only a small lose of sonics. Overall soundstage is excellent without any glaring deficencies.
An excellent choice for anyone who requires a combo player and wants one of the best.

Pioneer DVL-91
This unit replaced my Pioneer DVL700 (which I still have and use downstairs).
The picture, both DVD and LD is a definite step above the DVL 700. I am very pleased with the picture and sound from this unit. If you can find one at a good price, and have a LD collection, this is the unit to have.
