Great sound. I've had it for two years. Two years of
enjoyment, OK?

Pioneer VSX-D509S
Very nice system, lots of power, clear sound, runs cool, has all the little features you can find in systems twice as expensive. It has the best quality/price rating in the Receivers category for 2001.

Pioneer VSX-D509S
For the price, this unit has many features that I am quite pleased with; however, it has one major drawback that seriously affects my ability to recommend this unit. I have an older VCR (5 years old) that does not have S-video i/o while my DVD and TV do. The VSX-D509S unit requires that all video connections match. Therefore, I cannot use the S-video connections from my DVD to the unit or the S-video connection from the unit to my TV. Basically it requires that all connections go to the lowest common denominator instead of allowing one to utilize the best connections between each component.

Purchased for 289.00 from supremevideo.com.
Great value for home theater on a budget or for a second/kids system. Sound as good as it can for not being a high current amp.
