Harman Kardon Signature 2.0
I think the 2.0 is a great looking piece, it's sort of basic looking with a no option approach to it, but it is FULL of options.
It has an excellent tuner that performs as good as and better than any others I've owned, plus it has RDS.
The surround section is great whether using analog or digital sources, it gives you the choice of analog, optical digital, and coaxial digital inputs.
As far as Stereo operation goes, for a home theater based processor it sounds as good as many stereo preamps do.
It has a nice option that allows you to choose any audio input and any video input together, and name your source whatever you want.
The best part of the 2.0 is there are software upgrades for it, there is even a DTS upgrade out for it. The upgrades get rid of a lot of the more annoying things people comment about it.
The downfalls of the unit include not enough S-video inputs, only 2. It would also be nice if there was 4 optical inputs to match the aount of coaxial digital inputs, instead of just 2. I beleive that the problem of not being able to use the large speaker setting and subwoofer at the same time except when a 5.1 signal is received has been taken care of.
Over all this unit is great.

Harman Kardon Signature 2.0
First of all, it look's great, -minimalist elegance.
It has a great RDS tuner.
It sounds wounderful in stereo mode and in Dolby Digital mode, but I'm most impressed by the way the different "Movie" modes gives Pro Logic material a warm and much more natural sound than standard Pro Logic. The "Music" modes are also great for "real" stereo Music material.

I have teamed up this Preamplifier with the Signature 2.1 5-channel amplifier and I can crank up the volume to maximum level with virtually zero distortion.

You can trim the bass and treble levels to suit the specific characteristics of a soundtrack and you can vary the level of the subwoofer output, and these adjustments don’t permanently affect the default settings programmed into the Signature 2.0 - these are restored when the unit is switched to standby mode or switched to another source.

The only drawback is that the speaker settings are made "globaly" when everyting else can be set individually for each source, (level, bass, treble....),
You might want to listen to CD with "large" Left & Right speakers and no Sub, and then the next minute watch a movie, and by selecting DVD on the remote automaticly switch speaker setting to "small" L & R with Sub. Another thing is
that you can't set the loudspeaker setting for "large" Right & Left and Subwoofer "Yes" at the same time exept in Dolby Digital mode.
This I don't like, since I have Two "Good" Stereo Sub's connected to the R & L channel and a Big Mama Boom Box -Sub for some extra power when watching a movie, and this doesn't work with VCR and Pro Logic.

I highly recomend it for it's sonic exellence.
