Marantz SR-680
This is a great receiver. It is better than SR 580 in 2 aspects:
1> It has cleaner sound than SR-580. I brought the 580 back to get this one.
2> The surround sound is louder than the 580. I hardly hear the surround sound on 580. I could be wrong about this. It has a really smart remote control. And of course it has cleaner sound than the Harmon Kardon AVR-550. The HK AVR-55 seem to have more bass but the musical is not as clean or sound as good as the Marantz. I brought this one back to. To my opinion Marantz receivers DOES have ONE POINT that I like: the clean sound and awesome music generating. The T2 Judgement day DVD really showed how good the sound of the Marantz receiver. I dont work for marantz.

Marantz SR-680
I'm giving the SR-680 an 8 rating mainly because of the stereo sound quality, (the most important aspect for me) and the FM reception.

This receiver is lacking in versatility. It has no S-Video switching, only one COAX digital input and one optical digital input. There is also no pre-in nor a 6 channel audio input. The receiver is also a little weak on ergonomics.

The $1000 list price is too high. I paid $849. $700-$750 might be a more appropriate price.
