Yamaha DDP-2
Sound quality is very good. It has all the features you need from a Dolby Digital decoder except two: It has no Dolby Surround decoding, so when I'm using a DD 2.0 DVD disc I have to change cabling to use the DS decoding in my amp. The small speaker bass cutoff to subwoofer is at 90 Hz, which I think should be user definable. Something like 50 Hz would sound a lot better with my speakers so now I'm forced to use big speaker setting.

Yamaha DDP-2
The DDP-2 is excellent at decoding dolby digital. When the enhanced modes are introducing in with dobly digital the unit jumps to leaps and bounds with the enhanced sound. The only flaw that I discovered was with the LFE channel. The problem that I found as a user was that it was very difficult to control the bass, this was due to fact that there was too much distortion within the channel which makes the volume level difficult or even impossible to control. Other than this the unit is pretty excellent. I give it 7/10 3 marks off for the lack of bass control.
