Denon AVC-A1
Woo...! I bought this monster in the last March, till now I still feel happy with this most high-end AV amp from Denon, especially comparing with an amount of 2000USD that I have paid for it.

Technically, the 5 powerful stereo channels is amazed, tight bass/mid-bass, smooth and good sound. The pictures are so smooth, a little bit light. Stereo mode is not good at all, but you can turn to direct mode if you owned a high grade CD player. Hunter! strong recommended, if you find down a cheaper one in the second-hand AV shop, don't hesitate to pick up!
Weakness: Narrow space to connect speaker's cables. Bad manual instruction. Poor remote control, a Denon's typical.
Last one: Don't drop it on your foots!

My system:
Sony CDP-XA5ES CD player
Kenwood DM-9090 MD player
Pioneer DV-S9 DVD player
Denon PMA-1500 Pre-Main Amp.
Denon AVC-A1 AV Amp.
Front speakers: B&W CDM1 NT
Rear speakers: B&W 602 S2
AudioQuest YIQ2 Cables
AudioTechnica Speakers Cables

Enjoy your day with fun fulfilled!

Denon AVC-A1
I bought my AVC-A1 in last April and found that it is excellent for watching DVD. The DD/THX 5.1 sound is terrific. The LFE output through my Energy ES-8 SW is stunning. I do share other commentators' view that it's stereo sound is not as good as other AMPs. I use the direct mode for listening CDs.

I just bought an absolutely brand new unit from ubid.com for only $142. With my JVC RX-664 receiver it sounds incredible.

Denon AVC-A1
This is en excellent amp! For home cinema sound I have not heard anything better, for stereo music it is not quite as good but still excellent.
More than enough power, no problem controlling my 4 ohm main speakers (the Denon made them go lower than the NAD I used before). Lots of inputs and outputs (including a six channel input for an external decoder so I can add DTS if I will ever need it), but only one single electrical coaxical digital input (three optical in, one of which is also out). The learning remote controls the AVC-A1 and my TV, tuner, CD, DVD (partly) and VCR (partly).

Denon AVC-A1
Bought it two years ago in Osaka, Japan when it first came out. Even then it was a kick ass AV unit. It still kicks ass, but (yes there is a butt!) Denon, like evryone has said, clean up you're act on the AVC-A1 instruction manual. I would of like to have known some of the swhort cut features on you're remote. I think you should stop translating directly from the Japanese manual, because I ahev this as well, and the Elglish manual sucks more than the Japanese one. So, Please Denon give a quality manual, for a quality piece, if I plan to spend $2500 on a car I would expect the owner to tell me everything about it or atleast have the manual in the car. As with this demon of a box, it would be nice to be able to cleanly and effortlessly comprehend the manual and have a decent explaination of other features that this AV amp can and will be able to do. The other complaint, the sound is a bit harsh, but that is expected from a purely digital AV amp. Wish there were a little more control on sofetning some of the sounds like a simple equalizer with the direct sound source option, so I can soften my CD and MD inputs. The HT portion of this AMP is second to none that I have heard in the price range, Denon ytou have outdoine yourselves, but if you really want to satisfy the customer, revise the manual and allow it to be downloaded online, and allow a simple equalization option for sources such as CD, MD so we can use any speaker system with it, and not only those killer base head speakers that most of us all have persoanal preferences. But I will have to give it a 9.7- almost a ten, but no cigar.
