I've got em. I love them. The only thing I'll replace these babies with is bigger Martin Logan speakers. Box speakers can't come close!

Bass seems to lag behind the electrostatics, but the soundstage is incrediable.
Cost can be prohibitive.

MAYBE I'M BIASED SINCE I OWN A PAIR...BUT THIS IS ONE KNOCKOUT SPEAKER! EVERYONE ACKNOWLEDES THIS SPEAKERS SEEMLESS, SILKY SMOOTH MID-RANGE. EVEN WITH MY LESS THEN SMOOTH ADCOM 555II DRIVING THEM THEY ARE HEADS AND SHOULDERS ABOVE THE OLD B&W'S THEY REPLACED. IT IS TRUE THAT THE BASS IS A LITTLE LEAN COMPARED TO SOME, BUT IT IS VERY ACCURATE AND HAS A GOOD DEAL OF IMPACT FOR AN EIGHT INCH SPEAKER. I HAVE CONTINUED TO USE AN M&K V-100 SUB WITH THESE SPEAKERS. WHILE M&K HAS GOTTEN A BAD RAP AS NOT BEING A VERY "MUSICAL" SUB I FIND IT VERY COMPLIMENTARY TO THE LIGHTING QUICK ML'S. THE M&K FEATURES BOTH ADJUSTABLE GAIN AND A CONTINIUSLY ADJUSTABLE CROSSOVER. THIS HAS ALLOWED ME TO SET THE GAIN RELETIVLY LOW, AND THE CROSSOVER AT ABOUT 40HTZ, WHICH IS JUST ENOUGH TO "FLESH OUT" THE SPEAKERS UNDER MOST CIRCUMSTANCES, AND GIVES IT THE ABILITY TO ROCK A LITTLE WHEN ASKED TO1

I've been living with a pair of Aerius i's for about two years. This is a speaker for classical music lovers. The sound stage is narrow, which is the only legitimate criticism. Once properly set up in the listening room, and with he listener in the correct position, the imaging and resolution are superb. You can hear and clearly follow the playing of any instrument in an orchestra. The speaker is sensitive to cable type, and higher end cables are a necessity. Pop/rock music will not be terribly impressive primarily because so much of it is recorded so poorly. All that multi-tracking, mixing and re-mixing really takes the soul out of the sound, and on the Aerius, the lack of sound quality is all too evident. Contrary to popular belief, the bass response is adequate for rock music, although you may wish to turn up the bass a bit for some of it. A separate subwoofer is not a necessity. Frankly, if you are into big bass music, this speaker will be lost on you; you would be better off with a pair of Cerwin-Vegas or the like. I am quite satisfied with these speakers. They are one heck of a bargain at the price.
