I love mine.Only drawback is the length, but I'm sure that it's necessary for such a fine image. You won't regret getting this one.

Not too bad a unit. It shows a little glare when the eyepiece is moved outward too much to get more power, but its OK. It does show a small amount of chromatic aberration when used with some eyepieces at powers approaching 50x per inch.

This new barlow by Meade is the finest barlow I've ever used. Images are very clear, and brightness drop is barely noticable with my 26mm Series 4000 Meade eyepiece. The difference between this barlow and one costing $20 less, is quite noticable to me. Spend the few $ extra for what I think is the best 2X barlow on the market.

This is one of the better barlows on the market(mine is the japan model 140)works great for dragging that last little bit out of your scope, views are sharp, contrast is very good(when compared to meades lesser models)I use to not like barlows til i had to start wearing glasses and my short eye-relief,high power EP's became to hard for me to use, this barlow has restored my interest by allowing me to use my long eye-relief,low power EP's for high power planetary views.I did notice some glare on the moon so the baffling could be better(gonna try lining it with flocked paper,i'll let you all know if that helped).Overall this is a great barlow.

Happy Gazing !!!!!

Having used this barlow on a LX90 it is supperb..tried (borrowed) lesser/more priced barlows and its almost like Meade has made a barlow goo w/meade, it other words the tv/celestron etc. were more but this barlow with the meade lx90 was the BEST combo. Better yet my kids thought so after I thought so without of course telling them which 1 i liked. No idea on price/brand etc. just plain look and like.

Meade #140 2X Barlow Lens
Its a pretty good Barlow, especially for the price. However, it could have
been a bit better baffled, as with some eyepieces (and using any extension
tubes), viewing the moon can show a little glare off the inside of the tube.
I would have rated it higher, except that I recently purchased Tele Vue's
2.5x Powermate, which is visibly somewhat better, especially in the 40x per inch
to 50x per inch range.

I found the Meade 140 barlow to be inferior to the Ultima in three areas. It's not as clear optically. The build quality is less robust (too much plastic). The longer length is less convenient.

However, I got this because Lumicon told me the meade 140 barlow lens cell, when removed, screws perfectly into the Lumicon binoviewer enabling it to be parfocal with 3x magnification. I tried it and it works perfectly. If you've got a Lumicon/BW Optik binoviewer it's definitely worth getting a meade 140 barlow for this reason so you can reach focus in a refractor or newtonian.

Heres the update on the glare on the moon to the above post, after taking the barlow apart(so all i was holding was the chromed tube)If you look down the tube with it tilted towards a light the baffling is covered quite well, flip it over and look at it the same way and you can see chrome glare coming through, which means meade when spraying the flat black paint only coated from the EP end, while your view comes in the other end(the most likely end for the glare to happen)i masked off the chrome barrel and used Krylon Ultra Flat Black and sprayed from both ends, that fixed it,hope this helps some of you.Clear Skies!!!

Happy Gazing !!!!!
