I have these on top of some 30-year old bic floorstand speakers. Those BIC's are never on, but guests are always asking how an old speaker could sound so good! When I tell them that only the little box on top is on, jaws drop.

Hard pressed to name a better speaker for under $800. Not as bass deficient as many purport--but a good sub makes these things even better.

The Ascend CBM 170 speakers are some of the best sounding speakers I've ever heard at any price. Not stunning to look at but certainly not ugly either. Kind of like a Maserati that looks like a Camry.
