For those of you who think sunfire is the best sub, i agree only when it comes to stereo music not theatre sound. What i mean by this is if you take a lower end velodyn such as the CT-120 which is a 12' inch sub and put it against the 2700 watt sunfire, in sound and notes in the music of a theatre you can actually hear the voices clearly along with the notes of a flute etc. The sunfire you cannot hear this same quality. Now hertz is another story, I tested the velodyn against the sunfire and on the meter the velodyne got as low as 15 Hz -120Hz. Now take notes becuase the velodyne i tested was the HGS-18 which has a peak wattage of 3000 watts its 1000 watts continous. The CT-120 got down to 24 HZ Thats impressive for a 12' inch sub. Now anything below 27Hz can give you distortion depending on the volume setting. Note velodyn has been in the business for over 20 years, way before Bob carver was ever making subwoofers. So when it comes down to equal sound and low end hertz frequencies Velodyn stands alone Quality wise its the best bargain. The only other Sub i feel really matches the velodyn in true clear low end bass is the higher end Klipsch Subwoofers also M&K subs are awesome too.. Great performance, the only thing I don't like is it seems to be a little slow to react with fast paced music, almost like it is a beat behind sometimes.

Side by side comparisons sold this one for me. The sound to my ears was above the others. A good purchase in my book.

audio quality overall is decent for the price. i wasn't really limited by space so i went for a pretty big size. needed one more end table anyway. does the job for movies, could probably be a little bit tighter for some types of music. power is ok. can get boomy at times. teted out a mirage 1500w sub that was 11 x11 and sounded good. definitely recommend a side by side comparison. 500 bucks well spent.

Note to those who found the c120 a bit slow. I noticed the same in mine, but toggled the phase control and played with the placemnt a bit. In my room, the sub sounded much better when I pulled the back of it away from the corner a bit. After a lot of experimentation I am very happy with it on almost almost all music. If you want even more control, get the ct 150, it has a variable phase adjustment and can more easily be matched up to your main speakers. This is a very powerful and clean sub for the price.
